“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it,” but who is allowed to tell the story? And what motivates the narrative? In a companion piece to their acclaimed play An Iliad (presented at last year’s Festival to wildly enthusiastic response), co-creators Denis O’Hare and Lisa Peterson now delve into Virgil’s Aeneid to explore the fall of the democratic republic in ancient Rome. In modern language, the play toggles between past and present, illuminating power dynamics that feel as real and resonant today as two millenniums ago. What truths do the classics hold, and what has been obscured?

This performance uses haze and strobe lighting.

Attendance at all events is subject to the Festival security policy.
