The 2020 season of Spoleto Festival USA may be cancelled, but our passion for the performing arts and our dedication to the Charleston community and beyond remain a year-round commitment. As a not-for-profit organization, our full-time staff is constantly engaged in programming, planning, marketing, and fundraising—all to ensure that you can experience the absolute best of the performing arts each spring.
Under normal circumstances, ticket sales and other earned income cover only half the cost of producing and presenting the 150+ world-class performances you see on our stages every season. Because of financial challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we can no longer rely on our usual revenue sources to keep us strong and stable. Right now, your support is more valuable than ever because it means we can support our artists, staff, and operations in the near future so that we may return to you better than ever in 2021. By contributing to Spoleto Festival USA before the current fiscal year comes to an end on August 31st , you are helping us to:
- offer compensation to members of our seasonal technical and production teams
- pay cancellation fees for those artists who were originally slated to perform during the 2020 season
- maintain our offices at 14 George as well as Memminger Auditorium so that we can continue to plan our return
Thanks to your generosity in the present, we here at the Festival can turn our sights to the future. By giving to Spoleto Festival USA now, you are reinforcing our mission and encouraging the development of our 2021 season. Your immediate support will allow the Festival to continue offering dynamic, international programs of the highest caliber at competitive ticket prices while also ensuring that we are able to:
- distribute more than 800 free performance tickets through our Open Stage Door initiative each year
- provide meaningful training to young production and arts administration professionals via the Festival’s long-running Apprentice Program
- offer artist conversations, lectures, and demonstrations to promote understanding and appreciation of the arts
- conduct nationwide auditions for a Festival Orchestra that is unmatched not only in its excellence but in its importance to the careers of talented young musicians
- make artists available for community engagements and educational outreach year-round
- make investments in technology and infrastructure that support a world-class arts experience for our audiences
Support Spoleto Festival USA while enhancing your Festival experience. All donors enjoy membership benefits based on their giving levels for the 2021 season.
