Overview

Torchbearers of contemporary folk, Watchhouse is the evolution of Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz, previously known as Mandolin Orange. The North Carolina duo reinvented themselves in 2021 by releasing their self-titled debut album, which includes standout tracks “Better Way” and “Upside Down.” Topping Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums Chart at #1, Watchhouse represents the duo’s “best work to date,” (American Songwriter)— a bold and poetic artistic reinvention that imbues their Appalachian-steeped folk with ambient drone, gauzy soul horns, and experimental texture. A band at the regenerative edges of subtly experimental folk-rock, Watchhouse is one to watch.
