As I reflect on some of the challenges of the past few years and even the first weeks of 2023, I am immeasurably grateful to serve an organization that has brought decades of wonder to audiences and spurred positive growth for its community. Spoleto Festival USA serves as a global leader in the arts, one that has catalyzed countless breakthroughs for the world’s most innovative talent, and shared these riveting, transcendent moments with our patrons. Amidst turmoil that now feels almost daily, the arts provide an invigorating tonic, and nowhere is that concoction more potent or inspiring than during the immersive 17 days and nights of Spoleto.

Next week, we will publicly announce our full programming for our 47th season (May 26 to June 11), and my team and I will embark on full-scale preparations for our city-wide celebration of arts and culture. This season exemplifies Spoleto’s mission and vision: a multidisciplinary artistic summit spanning cultures, voices, and nationalities. It’s a creative playground for innovation—and an unparalleled exploration for adventurous audiences. I will give you just one hint: full to bursting, we even snuck in a special “pre-Festival” performance on May 25. I look forward to sharing more detail with you on January 27. Tickets to this remarkable season will become available that day beginning at 10:00am EST.
There’s much to be excited about and look forward to experiencing. From the season announcement to Spoleto’s annual Orchestra benefit and beyond, I have high hopes for 2023.
