Help Tell the Story of 50 Years
For five decades, Spoleto Festival USA has brought artists and audiences together in Charleston for unforgettable performances, unexpected discoveries, and lifelong memories.
As we prepare to celebrate the Festival’s 50th Anniversary in 2027, we’re inviting our community to help tell the story of those first 50 years.
Every ticket, photograph, program, costume, and memory is part of Spoleto’s history.
Do you have a piece of Festival history to share?
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need a rare or valuable artifact to participate. A ticket stub from your first performance, a family photograph, a treasured program, or a story about an unforgettable artist can be just as meaningful as a poster, costume, or other historic item.
We’re looking for:
- Printed materials: Programs, posters, brochures, ticket stubs, maps, invitations, and membership materials
- Photographs: Audience experiences, family traditions, street scenes, volunteers, artists, and behind-the-scenes moments
- Video & audio: Home movies, VHS recordings, interviews, cassette recordings, and Festival broadcasts
- Memorabilia: T-shirts, pins, buttons, staff badges, artist gifts, and other Festival keepsakes
- Unique items: Costumes, set pieces, artwork, correspondence, scrapbooks, and press clippings
- Memories: Stories about performances, artists, traditions, volunteering, and the moments that made Spoleto meaningful to you
Share a Memory
Some of the most important pieces of Festival history can’t be preserved in an archive. Tell us about the performance you’ve never forgotten, the artist you met, the Festival tradition your family continues, or the experience that became a lifelong memory. Email them to [email protected].
Submit Digital Materials
Have photographs, videos, recordings, documents, or scanned memorabilia to share? Email them to [email protected].
Please include your name, a brief description of the material, and the approximate date or Festival season.
Drop Off Physical Materials
Bring your Festival materials to the Spoleto Festival USA offices at 14 George Street during our community archive drop-off hours.
First and last Thursday of each month
12:00–4:00p.m.
Beginning Thursday, August 27
Festival staff will be available to receive materials, answer questions, and document submissions.
