The Tell Your Story Fellows perform new, original works inspired by members of the Charleston community. The pieces feature the voices of local Charlestonians sharing their stories alongside sights and sounds of the region. Fellows are chosen by application from alumni of the Festival Orchestra and Chorus, and undertake a 6-month collaboration and oral history interview with a community member. Partners include representatives from We Are Family, Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach, and Charleston Jewish Federation.

We Are Family
We Are Family is South Carolina’s oldest nonprofit that provides life-affirming and life-saving programs for LGBTQ+ young people that have a lasting and measurable impact, with a focus on those who are BIPOC and/or low-income. Founded in 1995, We Are Family cultivates affirming statewide programs and community initiatives for SC’s young people up to the age of 24 focused on: leadership development and social support; health and wellness; and movement building and advocacy. We Are Family’s vision is that LGBTQ+ young people and allies feel empowered to find their places in their families, in their communities, and in the world.

Charleston Jewish Federation
Charleston Jewish Federation works to build, secure, and sustain Jewish life in Charleston, in Israel, and around the world. Its priorities include fostering Jewish culture and education, strengthening philanthropy and connections to Israel, supporting vulnerable populations, engaging the next generation in leadership, safeguarding Jewish institutions, combating antisemitism, and advocating for the Charleston Jewish community.
