Live at the Cistern

Sponsored By: SouthState Bank

Venue: College of Charleston Cistern Yard

Duration: Approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes

Overview

Still in her early 30s, Molly Tuttle is one of her generation’s most engaging and awarded bluegrass musicians, a virtuosic instrumentalist and canny songwriter who is also one of roots music’s most adventurous forces. Though Tuttle comes from the great California bluegrass diaspora and a family band there, her career truly bloomed after she moved to Nashville, where she soon became the first woman to win IBMA’s Guitar Player of the Year—twice in a row, no less. She netted her first Grammy at 30, her second at 31. Tuttle is not just a stunning flatpicker with a surefire voice, either; she is a sharp writer who documents pain, perseverance, and escapades, plus her optimistic vision of a different kind of green new deal for the South. Tuttle brings her fresh band, responsible for 2025’s genre-agnostic So Long Little Miss Sunshine, to Spoleto 2026.
