A pillar of artistic investigation and ceaseless experimentation
“[Brown] was a maverick. She choreographed works meant to defy gravity” – The New York Times
Celebrating its 50th anniversary season, this timeless dance company returns to Spoleto Festival USA (last here in 2015) with a trio of varied works, carrying on the innovative spirit of its founder, Trisha Brown. In her elegant and mysterious Foray Forêt, a marching band juxtaposes the work’s steady focus, while Groove and Countermove reflects the frenetic energy of its jazzy score. Also included is Working Title, one of Brown’s early explorations inspired by her childhood memories of running through Washington forests.
