Featuring Dr. Michael White and Catherine Russell
A star-studded tribute to the life and music of Danny Barker
Guitarist and banjoist Danny Barker was a jazz raconteur largely responsible for a resurgence in the New Orleans brass-band tradition in the 1970s, serving as mentor to many top young talents, including the members of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and laying the groundwork for jazz generations to come. For one spectacular evening, an eight-piece all-star band—led by clarinet virtuoso Dr. Michael White and complete with horns, percussion, and Grammy-winning vocalist Catherine Russell—gathers in the Cistern Yard to celebrate the life and achievements of a true Crescent City luminary.
