A Note to Our Audience Regarding COVID-19 Protocols

JUNE 1, 2021

Behind the scenes and in our performance spaces, Spoleto Festival USA is committed to keeping our community protected from illness at every point possible. The 2021 season features a reduced number of venues and an overall capacity that is approximately 25 percent of a typical season. In addition to complying with guidelines from the CDC and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, we have engaged a team of healthcare professionals at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) to assist in the development and implementation of all health and safety measures. Each staff member and artist contracted by Spoleto Festival USA has agreed to follow detailed protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, we are asking all audience members to do their part.

Every audience member is asked to:
– Wear a face mask unless seated in your assigned safe seating pod.
– Respect physical distancing and limit interactions with audience members outside of your safe seating pod.
– Follow all health and safety protocols regardless of vaccination status.

Additional precautions being taken by the Festival include:
– Prohibiting food and beverages at all performances
– Rigorous and frequent venue sanitizing

Safe seating pods:
To maintain appropriate levels of physical distancing and in accordance with MUSC’s recommendations, all in-person performance tickets will be sold in safe seating pods—essentially “bubbles” of two and four seats. All seats within a pod must be purchased at the same time in the same order. Due to physical distancing, seating is limited.

Not feeling well? Please stay home. In an effort to encourage audience members who are ill to stay home, Spoleto Festival USA will offer flexibility in ticket returns.

Not vaccinated yet? You can still attend Spoleto Festival USA performances. MUSC will also hold a vaccination clinic each day of the Festival (except Sundays), Friday, May 28 thru Saturday, June 12 next to Festival headquarters at 292 Meeting Street. Registration is encouraged but walk-ups are welcome.
