Support the Orchestra
Every summer, seventy-five to one hundred young musicians from around the world gather in Charleston for four weeks of intensive training, rehearsals, and Festival performances. Through nationwide auditions, an extremely talented group of advanced conservatory students and young professionals of many nationalities is selected to form the Festival resident ensemble. The Orchestra works with Resident Conductor and Director of Orchestral Activities John Kennedy, as well as with guest conductors in opera, symphonic, choral, chamber, and contemporary music performances.
The Festival Orchestra is central to the international excellence of performances at Spoleto Festival USA and has over the years proven to be one of the finest opportunities for young musicians to gain extensive performance experience. Alumni of the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra can be found in almost every professional orchestra in the United States and many abroad.
Each $500 sponsorship contribution supports the Festival’s engagement of one orchestra member for the current season and helps underwrite the costs of artist housing and travel expenses. If you would like to request the sponsorship of a particular instrument, or a student from your home state, please let us know. We will do our utmost to accommodate special requests.
